David Hockney, talking of his ‘joiner photographs’ reasoned that, whilst a single image can attract a single glance, and image made up of many images may well attract multiple glances! [I think that I have paraphrased that somewhat correctly] Searching through my back archive for something else, the thought struck me that I had many collections of alike images [or multiples of the same subject] accumulated over a lengthy period when Hockney’s thought struck me] Some works - for instance ‘Crossing Clunes’ individual images have appeared previously as a complete exhibition by the same name. ‘Grain Silos [after Becher] was conceived as a series of images of industrial sites presented in a grid-like format in the style of Bernd and Hiller Becher. Other subject matter, whilst not quite strong enough for a standalone exhibition, to my mind work quite well as grid format images. I expect that this series will be ongoing.:)
